Man United v Man City Betting Tips: The Set Odds’ Big Match Preview

Think of big Premier League derbies and Man United v Man City will probably be at the very top of the list.

There is added spice to the Manchester derby these days with the pair vying for top spot in the Premier League this season, but it’s the blue half of the city who have taken an early lead in the title race with 14 wins and a draw from their first 15 League games.

Jose Mourinho‘s men showed what his Red Devils are all about by winning 3-1 at Arsenal in the game of the season so far last weekend so this one should be a tasty affair.

Team News

Phil Jones and Nemanja Matic are fit, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be in the squad after missing out in midweek.

Marouane Fellaini will have a late fitness test for the home side, who will be without Paul Pogba after his red card at Arsenal last weekend. Eric Bailly and Michael Carrick are both injured.

City have been boosted by news David Silva is fit but captain Vincent Kompany is, unsurprisingly, doubtful, as is Fabian Delph after he missed the midweek action due to illness.

Betting Focus

Pep Guardiola‘s City have been in unbelievable form in the Premier League this season but have left it really late in a couple of matches recently, and slipped to their first defeat in all competitions in midweek by losing at Shakhtar.

That said, they were already assured of top spot in their Champions League group after winning their five other games so I wouldn’t read too much into that.

I think this game has draw written all over it and 5/2 looks a decent price. United and City are both in decent form and I think they’ll cancel themselves out in hopefully what will be another spectacular game. But I have a feeling this one could bit a bit more cagey.

If Kompany is fit to start the game then 2/1 for him to be shown a card when he is up against the pace of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Romelu Lukaku looks a good bet.

Raheem Sterling has been in, um, sterling form for City this season so 15/2 looks a huge price each-way at unlimited places, as I suggested with the Jesse Lingard tip last weekend which came up trumps.
