In recent times Arsenal have looked like they’re going have an average season yet somehow manage to make it to a final – and this season is no different.
They beat the odds to knock out Chelsea over two legs in the League Cup semi-final – but can they go one better and knock Man City off their perch, a la Wigan on Monday night?
City will surely be up for it even more after seeing their FA Cup hopes go up in the smoke of Will Grigg’s fire in Greater Manchester.
Team News
The Gunners will be without Alex Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan for the Carabao Cup final, and Alex Iwobi is a doubt.
Arsene Wenger will make a decision on Aaron Ramsey on Saturday and he “thinks” Mesut Ozil will be “alright” for the showpiece.
For City, Pep Guardiola has confirmed Claudio Bravo will start the match after starring in the League Cup this season, despite being the club’s number two keeper.
Raheem Sterling is a doubt with a muscle problem, and Gabriel Jesus will be assessed on Saturday.
Betting Focus
At first glance it’s surely all about a City win here, and while it may not be that straight-forward, it’s so tough to back against the Premier League leaders.
Everyone thought Chelsea would just turn up and beat Arsenal in last season’s FA Cup final but the Gunners did well that day at Wembley, and often do at their neighbours Spurs‘ temporary home.
Having said that, City on their day are pure class and they will surely win. I fancy Arsenal to keep it tight in the first half so like Draw at HT, City win at FT at 7/2.
Sergio Aguero is really tempting for FGS at 7/2, but I’m going to go for a bit more value and back Kevin De Bruyne at 9/1 e/w at unlimited places.
I also like KDB for Man of the Match in the game at 6/1, which looks huge, especially when you consider two other bookies are offering just 7/2 for the same market!
