The Set Odds’ 4-4-2 System: Post-weekend review

Hello all,

We were so, so close. I would be lying if I said I don’t feel frustrated about Saturday’s results after missing out on two huge wins by a matter of minutes.

The 26/1 Under 2.5 goals 6fold was coming in until Morecambe’s Garry Thompson struck in the first minute of injury time to deny us in their 2-1 win over Cheltenham Town.

And there was more heartache in the 24/1 5fold where Fulham conceded a late equaliser at home to Norwich City just two minutes from time.

Sadly, we finished pointless after the first round but looking on the bright side, we were just minutes away from earning 61pts.

Another positive to take from Saturday was the incredible performance of Luton, who I tipped for the League 2 title in my ante-post preview.

They smashed Yeovil – who I tipped for relegation in the same piece – 8-2, yep a brackets job on Sky Sports News was required.

If that wasn’t enough, our League 2 top scorer tip James Collins netted a hat-trick on his debut for the Hatters. Hats off to you, sir.

So, there was plenty of reason for cheer and there is loads of football to get stuck into this week what with the League Cup and the return of the Premier League on Friday night before the main action on the weekend.

The League Cup is not a competition I enjoy betting on at all because far too many teams rest players and don’t seem to care much about it, so there can be shocks galore.

Having said that, I’ll no doubt tweet a few tips out.

In contrast, there will be plenty of Premier League tips in my 4-4-2 Betting System post on Thursday so keep an eye out for that.

It’s early days, but looking ahead to the first Premier League gameweek of the season I fancy Arsenal to make light work of Leicester City on Friday night, and Crystal Palace to be too strong for Huddersfield on Saturday.

The Gunners were the better team against Chelsea in Sunday’s Community Shield and shouldn’t have needed penalties to see the game off.

I think Eagles striker Christian Benteke will be too strong for Premier League new boys Huddersfield, who conceded 58 goals in the Championship last season – one MORE than relegated Wigan – and scored just 56, only three more than relegated Blackburn Rovers.

Early doors Premier League bet: Arsenal -1 and Crystal Palace -1 double (6/1 Bet365 – bet HERE)
