Watford were involved in a well-fought goalless draw with Swansea last time out as they held firm for a second successive clean sheet following their 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough. They’ve come slightly off the gas in front of goal, netting just three times in their last four having previously scored 10 in their first five, but the visit of Hull certainly brings with it an opportunity to recapture that form.
The optimism of Hull’s wins in the first two games has faded as plenty of spare seats could be seen amongst the crowd in their 2-0 defeat at home to Stoke. That match brought a fifth successive league defeat for the club, who have shipped 19 goals in the process and plummeted into the bottom-three in the space of a few weeks.
Watford picked up the majority of their points against bottom-half teams last term, losing just one of their nine at Vicarage Road. We wouldn’t put off anyone backing a Hornets win at 1.8 but with the Tigers looking susceptible at the back and short of confidence going forward (one league goal in their last three), we’ll back a comfy home win to nil, especially with the Tigers most influential player this term, Robert Snodgrass, unlikely to feature.
Best Bet: Watford to Win to Nil at 2.75
