After a tricky fixture list where they took on four of last season’s top-seven and Chelsea in their opening five games, Watford must have been relieved to travel to Burnley on Monday night only to then lose 2-0. There was no trace of their inspired display the week before against United and it dented their previously impressive record against the leagues bottom-half clubs where they had lost just three of 18 games.
Bournemouth picked up an important win over Everton but they’ve struggled on the road thus far as they’ve lost two and drawn one while netting just once. The only two away successes in their last nine came against relegated sides Villa and Newcastle. However, we wouldn’t write them off here as Eddie Howe’s men won four and drew three of their nine away trips to last terms bottom-half finishers.
This will be the first time that one of last season lower-half clubs has visited Vicarage Road this year and the Hornets held a decent W4-D4-L1 record in 2015/16. Eight of those games where level at the break and the also in nine of Bournemouth’s last 16 away games, so in a difficult match to call we’ll put our money there again.
