The Manchester derby is always a tasty affair and this weekend’s match will be no different as Man City look to clinch the Premier League title with a win over their rivals.
After previous years of League dominance, Man United will certainly not want to see the blue half of the city celebrating come 7.20pm on Saturday, so if there’s a time to up their game it’s now.
Could we see some surprise offensive tactics from Jose Mourinho come Saturday at 5.30pm, rather than the usual dross United serve up away from home against the so-called big six? From a neutral point of view – let’s hope so!
Team News
A City win would clinch Pep Guardiola‘s troops the crown with a record six games to go – but after their woeful display at Anfield on Wednesday, going down 3-0 to Liverpool in the Champions League, they may need to rest a few against United ahead of Tuesday’s second leg.
Raheem Sterling looks likely to start, he was only on the bench on Wednesday night, and Sergio Aguero could be back after a spell out injured.
Fabian Delph is also likely to come in at left-back, while John Stones will be pushing for a recall after suffering from concussion before last weekend’s League game against Everton.
For United, Daley Blind and Sergio Romero are still out but they have nearly all of their players to choose from, and will have enjoyed a nice rest in midweek.
Betting Focus
The obvious result looks like a City win but their line-up could be a slight concern purely because they will need to come out all guns blazing against Liverpool on Tuesday, and they can tie up the title another time.
Owing to that and what will surely be an extra-determined United, I’m going for the draw at 14/5.
United’s Romelu Lukaku at 7/1 to score first looks far too big, so I will plump for the Belgian each-way at unlimited places for a third of the odds.
I’m going to split the FGS stakes and back a City player, too. It’s likely Sterling will start and he’s been on fire this season so 6/1 doesn’t look too bad, again each-way. Good luck!
