Liverpool are latest in a long line of Premier League clubs who are stepping up to try to end Man City‘s unbeaten League record this season.
But the Reds have an unbeaten record of their own to defend, 16 and counting, so won’t be concentrating purely on stopping the away side.
Jurgen Klopp‘s men have had mixed results in the transfer window with Virgil van Dijk coming in to strengthen their defence, but Philippe Coutinho has gone to Barcelona.
Despite that, this clash really should still be putting the super into Super Sunday with plenty of action – let’s hope it doesn’t disappoint.
Team News
Mo Salah is nearing a return for the home side but it’s not known if he will definitely make the squad just yet.
Jordan Henderson and Alberto Moreno have hamstring and ankle injuries respectively so could miss out and Nathaniel Clyne is still out.
For City, Gabriel Jesus and Benjamin Mendy have knee injuries, and Phil Foden is out with an ankle issue.
Betting Focus
The first thing which shouts out to me from the screen when I look at the prices for this match is that City are odds-against – something we barely see when they’re involved in League games these days.
It will not be easy going to Anfield and winning, but City have got the job done away from home well against the big clubs this season, and while van Dijk will improve Liverpool they are still leaky enough at the back for me.
I fancy Pep Guardiola‘s men to do the business after a tight first half so like the 11/2 available on a draw at half-time, City to win the match, and I like the look of a 2-1 scoreline at 9/1.
The obvious option for FGS is Sergio Aguero but I want more than 7/2 so I’m plumping for Raheem Sterling to came back to haunt his old club and break the deadlock at 6/1.
