After a run of seven unbeaten games in all competitions, Southampton were beaten 1-0 at the San Siro and also lost 2-0 at home to Chelsea last time out, though they did manage a draw at the Etihad in between. Inter, meanwhile, have struggled in recent weeks amidst the Icardi scandal, losing four of their last five in Serie A to drop down to 11th.
Southampton were 3-0 winners over Sparta Prague in their only home game so far and given they were somewhat unfortunate to lose at the San Siro having spurned several good chances, they’ll be hopeful of a better result at St Mary’s. Indeed, they’re W10-D3-L2 in their last 15 at home in the Premier League, with both those defeats against Chelsea.
Inter have been beaten 3-1 by both Wolfsburg and Sparta Prague in their two Europa League away games so far and they’ve generally been poor travellers all season as they’ve lost five of their seven road games in all competitions. That, together with the fact that De Boer has tended to rotate in the Europa League, means that we’re backing Saints to win and both teams to score, as has been the case in five of their last six home wins in the league and in three of Inter’s defeats in their last four road games.
Recommendation: Southampton to Win and Both Teams to Score at 3.75
