Football Betting Tips: The Set Odds’ 4-4-2 System [Champions League Week 3]

Hi all,

The Champions League returns for its third week tonight, and there are some real crackers to look forward to.

Man City v Napoli sees two of the world’s form sides go head-to-head at the Etihad, while over in Spain there is the Harry Kane Real Madrid Trial Match, aka Real Madrid v Spurs.

I’m hoping for the favourites to mainly prevail over the next two Champions League nights, which is reflected in my Win 5fold of City, Real, Dortmund at Nicosia, Barcelona to win by three or more at home to Olympiacos, and Juventus to beat Sporting in Italy.

The one that does make me slightly nervous is City against Napoli. While City have been sensational in the Premier League, the Italians have also been beating everything in sight and have actually had a better start to the season than the Manchester outfit.

But with home advantage and looking more like Barcelona every day, I’m siding with Pep Guardiola’s side.

These two nights of Champions League action look ideal for the Lucas Joao bet as the competition usually provides plenty of goals.

If Real and City can win their respective games I doubt they’ll be able to keep clean sheets against Spurs and Napoli so those two selections are straight in.

Maribor have scored in 10 of their last 11 home Champions League ties so I fancy them to net at home to Liverpool, but the Reds will surely have enough firepower to see them off, despite missing Sadio Mane.

Dortmund should win in Nicosia but APOEL have netted in seven of their last eight Champions League home games, while the German side have only kept one clean sheet in eight previous away games in the competition. So, I fancy a win and BTTS score result there, too.

For the Draw Double, I’m heading over to League One and League Two where I’m taking a punt on Oxford to hold Charlton, and Swindon to do the same at home to Lincoln.

As usual with the Champions League gameweeks, I’m only implementing the 5-a-Side system rather than the full 10 markets.

In total I’m staking 5.5pts. It’s 5pts on the bets below but I’m also having 0.25pts each-way on a First Goal Scorer bet of Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shrewsbury‘s Stefan Payne at just over 13/1 with Bet365 (bet HERE), who pay unlimited places.
