Borussia Dortmund lost for the third time in the league this season away at Frankfurt to slip down to seventh and nine points behind leaders RB Leipzig. Each of these losses has come on the road as their unbeaten run at Westfalenstadion stretches to 27 matches, of which they’ve won 22. Most recently they’ve beaten Bayern and put eight past Legia Warszawa and they’ll be confident of putting on another good display against a Borussia M’gladbach side that has won just once on the road this calendar year.
Gladbach, down in 13th, are one of a number of underachieving Bundesliga teams this season, a description that also applies to Dortmund. In fact, Bayern are the only top-six finisher from the 2015/16 campaign to be in the top-six at the moment. Andre Schubert’s men are winless in seven, failing to score in five of these, while on the road it’s four defeats in five.
Given the visitors’ current issues in front of goal we wouldn’t put anyone off backing the home win to nil but as Dortmund have kept just three clean sheets in 15 in all competitions, we’ll instead look to the hosts covering the -1 handicap line. In their unbeaten home run, 16 of the 22 victories have covered this line, while each of Gladbach’s away defeats this term have been by two or more goals, as have 10 of their last 11 defeats at top-four sides.
Best Bet: Borussia Dortmund -1 Handicap 2.15
