All the recent transfer buzz has been about Arsenal offloading Alexis Sanchez to Man United in exchange for Henrikh Mkhitaryan – but the Gunners will only want to take the Mkh out of Chelsea on Wednesday night.
The two sides played out a 0-0 draw in the League Cup semi-final first leg so it’s all to play for at the Emirates in the second leg as they look to seal a spot at Wembley.
The Gunners weren’t affected by the Sanchez/Mkhitaryan transfer deal on Saturday as they brushed aside Crystal Palace 4-1, and Chelsea were back in the goals, thrashing Brighton 4-0, so we may see the nest bursting a few times in this one.
Team News
Mkhitaryan is cup-tied so cannot play, and Aaron Ramsey and Nacho Monreal will both have fitness tests to see if they can make it.
But Arsene Wenger admitted the game will come too soon for Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
For Chelsea, Alvaro Morata and Cesc Fabregas will miss the game through injury, but Andreas Christensen is available.
Betting Focus
These sides have drawn twice already this season so the natural reaction would be to put them down for a stalemate again on Wednesday, which means betting on a win in extra-time or penalties could be the value.
I could certainly see this game going to pens so my advice would be to split the stakes and back both Arsenal and Chelsea to win on penalties at 33s each, or just back either team at 16/1 if that’s an option.
Eden Hazard was back in the goals for Chelsea last weekend, as I predicted after dropping him as my fantasy football captain for the first time in weeks, and I can see him netting again on Wednesday.
I like the look of him FGS at 11/2 each-way at unlimited odds with Bet365, and instead of just backing a straight draw I’m going to go for Draw at HT and Draw at FT to increase the odds to 9/2. Good luck!
