Manchester United v Liverpool Betting Tips: The Set Odds’ Big Match Preview

This fixture needs no introduction, but the intense rivalry between the two north west sides will be even deeper come Saturday lunchtime with just two points separating Man United in second with Liverpool in third.

Jose Mourinho’s men have won their last two League games against Crystal Palace and Chelsea, despite needing comebacks to do so, and Liverpool have eased past Newcastle, West Ham and Southampton.

Jurgen Klopp’s first choice frontline looks unstoppable at the moment so United will have to stand strong at home, as they have done all season, if they are to avoid defeat at Old Trafford.

That said, United have lost just once at home this season, to their neighbours and the runaway Premier League leaders Man City, so it’s going to be close.

Team News

Anthony Martial and Marcos Rojo could return for the Red Devils, but Phil Jones has a knock and Ander Herrera and Daley Blind are both out.

Marouane Fellaini is also struggling and should miss out.

For Liverpool, Jordan Henderson is a doubt after limping out of Tuesday night’s 0-0 draw at home to Porto.

Adam Lallana will be pushing for a League start after being named in the first 11 in the midweek Champions League encounter.

Betting Focus

I am tempted to back Liverpool against anyone right now purely because they are so lethal up top, but United are so resolute at home it’s tricky to justify.

As a result, I just cannot separate them so the draw at 7/4 looks to be the value option in terms of the match result.

Mo Salah is rightly favourite in the FGS market, but that has meant Romelu Lukaku’s price is much higher than it usually would be for a United home game and he’s 11/2 to net first, which I cannot ignore.

I’m going to punt it each-way at a third of the price for unlimited places.

One market I enjoy backing in the big games is the Man of the Match one, and I love the 14/1 available on David de Gea to have a blinder on Saturday.

If he’s at his best he could cut a frustrating figure between the sticks for Liverpool’s Fab Three, and this price looks big.
