After a slow start to the season Palace continued their recent revival with a deserved point at Goodison, meaning they’re now unbeaten in five in the league. It couldn’t be more different for West Ham who had to rely on a piece of Payet magic to equalise against Middlesbrough and ensure an end to a run of four successive league defeats.
Strong summer recruitments to the spine of the team have helped the Eagles turn their form around. Steve Mandana, James Tomkins, Andros Townsend and Christian Benteke have all come in and made an impact. The latter was linked with a move to West Ham in summer and Slavin Bilic must be kicking himself they missed out, especially with injuries to Andy Carroll, Andre Ayew and Diafra Sakho.
In contrast, the Hammers’ new signings have yet to make an imprint on the team, none more so than striker Simone Zaza who’s endured an awkward start to Premier League life. A W1-D1-L5 record has meant the East Londoners find themselves in a desperate situation in a season that promised so much back in August. It’s a different story at Selhurst Park where confidence is high and they look a great price to us to pile the misery on their London rivals.
