West Ham v Hull City
15:00 - 17/12/16 - London Stadium, East London
West Ham snapped a seven-match winless streak with their 1-0 win at the London Stadium over Burnley, but they were made to work hard after the break to hold onto their lead. Hull were on the receiving end of a 3-0 thumping when they played Tottenham midweek, and having conceded 35 goals in their 16 games so far this season they have few excuses for their currently lowly league position (19th).
It’s worth noting that the last four West Ham games prior to the visit from Burnley were against top-six teams, and they now find themselves with three consecutive fixtures against bottom-half teams (Hull, Swansea, Leicester). West Ham have gone W9-D6-L4 over the last two seasons against such teams, and having lost just one of their last five at home against all comers, it’s hard to see them losing this one. Furthermore, Hull have lost their last six away games, and having failed to score against comparatively weak teams like Boro and Sunderland, they’ll be wondering what they have to do to get a goal.
West Ham have looked less than assured at several points this season, but they should have the upper hand in this encounter. Their three home victories have been 1-0 and Hull have failed to score in their last four, so we back the Hammers to win 1-0 yet again.
