Watford v Burnley

15:00 - 4/2/2017 - Vicarage Road, Hertfordshire

Watford’s unexpected 2-1 win over Arsenal at home will have allowed Walter Mazzarri to breathe a sigh of relief after a run of seven without a win in the league and a disappointing loss to Millwall in the FA Cup. This week they face Burnley, who extended their run of home victories to seven across all competition, but who are still waiting for their first away victory in the league this season.

Burnley have been very weak at bottom-half sides in the league this season. They’ve lost all five games they’ve played this season, and only got on the scoresheet once in that run. They are unbeaten in their last five meetings with Watford, though, so they’ll be hopeful that they can take something away from this game, especially with Ashley Westwood and record signing Robbie Brady joining the squad. Watford have gone W2-D2-L3 across their last seven at home against middle-third sides but they’ve conceded in all but one of their last 13 league games.

It’s unlikely that Watford will be shut out at home by a Burnley side that’s weak on the road (the Hornets have scored in all but two of their home league games since March), but Burnley look strong enough to get on the scoresheet too with their new additions. We’re backing Both to Score.
