Stoke v Leicester
15:00 - 17/12/16 - King Power Stadium, Leicester
Leicester face another potentially miserable road trip this weekend as they travel to Stoke. The Potters were held to a goalless draw by Southampton on Wednesday, but that match was more notable for the early dismissal of Marko Arnautovic after a reckless challenge barely halfway through the first period. The hosts have won just one of their last four games across all competitions against Leicester, so they will be keen to set this right on Saturday.
The Foxes are now without back-to-back wins in the league since April, and they’ve now conceded as many goals on the road this season (19) as they did on the road all of last season. Ranieri has now managed 200 Premier League games but he’ll need to find some more answers if Leicester are to avoid the threat of relegation. The absence of Marko Arnautovic will be a concern for the hosts: he’s only missed six league games since the start of last season and Stoke have won only once in his absence, failing to score on three occasions. It remains to be seen how well the Potters will cope without a man who delivered 11 goals and six assists in the league last season.
We think the quick turnaround time and lack of Arnautovic will hamper Stoke significantly, but it would be folly to tip up Leicester given their torrid away form of late. Five of Stoke’s last six home games against bottom-half clubs have seen fewer than three goals and with neither of these sides in prolific scoring form, we think Under 2.5 Goals is the way to go again.
