Stoke v Hull City
15:00 - 15/4/2017 - Brittannia Stadium, Stoke
Stoke have hit the skids in their last few games: they’ve lost four of five winless matches, failing to score on three occasions and sinking to 13th in the process, just two points clear of Crystal Palace in 16th. Their home loss to Liverpool saw them defeated by two late goals, but they’ll be hoping for better fortune when they host Hull this weekend, who come into this on the back of a 3-1 loss at Man City. They sit only two points clear of the relegation spots and will be desperate to take points off an out-of-sorts Stoke lineup.
Stoke’s biggest problem at home seems to be creating chances. They’ve scored more than once in only two of their seven league matches at the Britannia Stadium since the turn of the year, and while that’s been enough to pick up points in five of those seven games, losses in their last two at home are enough to make us think they’re low on confidence in front of goal. However, they have won all six matches they’ve played against bottom-five sides since a draw and a defeat to Middlesbrough and Hull respectively early on in the season, and with Hull picking up one point in their last 14 away and failing to score in nine of their last 12 in this run, we think Stoke might turn their luck around on Saturday.
All in all, we think Stoke can take advantage of Hull’s poor away form, but it’ll be a low-scoring game. Stoke and Under 2.5 goals is the way to go.
