Monaco secured their first Ligue 1 title since 2000 with their 2-0 win over St Etienne, their 11th victory on the bounce in what’s been a very impressive season for Leonardo Jardim’s young side. Rennes made it back-to-back wins themselves as they won 1-0 at Caen to move up to 9th as they’re now assured of a top-half finish.
Rennes are unbeaten in seven at home, while they’ve lost just twice at Roazhon Park all season. They’ve managed some decent results against the top teams, drawing against both Lyon and Nice, while they were narrowly beaten 1-0 by PSG. Indeed, they’ve conceded more than once in only two of their last 15 on their own patch and so we’re unlikely to see Monaco put up a big number here, as they have done so often this season.
Monaco have won their last five on the road, but they’ve kept just two clean sheets in their 10 trips to top-12 sides so far and so we think they could struggle here, particularly as they won the title only three days ago and there’s bound to be something of a hangover from that. Rennes held Monaco to a draw in this fixture last season and we think they could get a result again. We’re siding with the hosts on the Double Chance.
