Southampton v West Ham Betting Tips

Southampton’s loss at Swansea on Tuesday granted the Swans their first back-to-back wins of the campaign so far, and Claude Puel will be wondering where his side’s next win is coming from after their fifth defeat in six Premier League games. This weekend they entertain West Ham, who were once again battered at home by Man City, adding a 4-0 defeat to their 5-0 loss in the FA Cup. They are just a point clear of Southampton, who could jump into the top half of the table with a win.

Southampton’s home loss to West Brom on New Year’s Eve snapped a run of five straight wins against middle-third sides at St Mary’s. West Ham have won just two of their last seven against middle-third sides (and three of their last 10 against such opposition on the road), but they’ve averaged two goals per game in their last six away games in the league, so we’d expect them to score here.

While Southampton have been good at home, their failure to overcome Swansea and recent weak form makes their position as strong favourites worth taking on. The West Ham-Draw Double Chance looks like a good price at 2.05.
