Southampton v Sunderland
Life under a new manager is proving tough for both of these sides so far as neither has registered a victory in their combined opening four matches. Southampton’s draw with Watford extended a worrying trend that has seen them concede in their last seven home matches. The hosts have still won 11 of their 20 fixtures at St Mary’s since the start of last season and, incredibly, all but one of those games saw at least one first half goal.
Sunderland’s (short-lived) equaliser against Man City on the opening day of the season extended their away scoring streak to six games. They’ve now netted in 14 of their last 15 on the road despite winning just three times.
Southampton famously won this fixture 8-0 a couple of seasons back but a repeat seems extremely unlikely as we expect David Moyes’ team to score here. Southampton winning with both teams scoring is a very tempting 3.20 here but we’re not convinced with the Saints just yet so prefer the safer Both Teams Scoring at 2.10. Both teams have scored in 12 of the opening 20 games of this Premier League campaign.
