Sevilla v Real Madrid
15:00
Sevilla picked up from where they left off at the end of last year as they returned from the winter break with an impressive 4-0 win at Real Sociedad. With Barca dropping points at Villarreal, Jorge Sampaoli’s side have moved up to 2nd, just four points behind Real. Los Blancos do have a game in hand and stretched their unbeaten run to a Spanish record equalling 39 games with their 5-0 home win over lowly Granada. These two met in the Copa Del Rey in midweek but after Real won the first leg 3-0 at the Bernabeu, both rested players ahead of this clash, with it eventually ending 3-3 as Real netted a couple of late goals to level things up.
In the league, Sevilla have won seven of their eight home games, with the exception coming against Barcelona, who had to come from behind to win 1-2. They’ve already beaten Atletico at home, to go with victories over Real and Barca at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium last term. Indeed, Sevilla have won three of their last four at home to Real and given the current side looks stronger than the ones that managed those victories, there’s every chance that Sevilla could extend that impressive record.
Real beat an underperforming Atletico side and scraped a somewhat fortuitous point at the Nou Camp in their last two away games, but they’ve kept only one sheet in their last five on the road and just three in their last 12 overall. Sevilla have scored 11 in their last three and certainly have the tools to take advantage of Real’s defensive vulnerabilities. Sevilla’s home games against Spain’s “Big Two” tend to produce goals as the last eight have all seen more than two goals, while five have seen more than three and so in addition with siding with the hosts, we’re going to back Over 3.5 Goals.
