Scotland v Slovenia
15:00
Scotland were held to a 1-1 draw in a midweek friendly at home to Canada and are languishing down in 5th in Group F having picked up only four points from their four games so far (three of those came against Malta). They trail Slovenia in 2nd by four points, with Srecko Katanec’s side unbeaten in seven and yet to taste defeat in their four qualification games so far.
Scotland have lost and failed to score in four of their last five away games, but they’re generally a very tough side to beat on their own turf. England (3-1) and Germany (3-2) are the only sides to have beaten them in their last 13 in Scotland. They won seven of these games, with five of these victories by a 1-0 scoreline.
Slovenia are generally a side that keeps things pretty tight but don’t score many themselves. Eight of their last 11 games saw fewer than two goals as they failed to score in five of these. They’re not the best travellers as they’ve lost 10 of their last 16 on the road, failing to score in nine of these games. When travelling to sides ranked below them (we have Slovenia 49th and Scotland 69th) they’re just W3-D1-L4 since 2014, so it looks worth taking them on here. Seven of these games had less than three goals with four of these featuring less than two, and so under 1.5 Goals looks worth backing at 2.4, but we’re making the 1-0 correct score our best bet.
