Real Sociedad v Sevilla
15:00
Both these sides were in excellent form in the run-up to Christmas as Sociedad had won six of their last eight and were up to 5th, while four wins in five meant Sevilla were 3rd as both took advantage of Atletico Madrid’s poor form and now they’ll be hoping to pip Simeone’s men to a Champions League qualification spot.
After defeat against Real Madrid on the opening day of the season, Sociedad have since won five of seven unbeaten games at the Anoeta Stadium, beating Atletico Madrid and managing a draw against Barcelona in that time. If they can take that form into the New Year, then Eusebio Sacristan’s side certainly look a fair price at 2.38 to win here.
Sevilla’s struggles on the road last term were well-documented as they failed to win away all season and though they’ve managed three road wins this time around, we’re not entirely convinced they’ve overcome their homesickness. Two of the aforementioned victories came over bottom-six teams, while the other was against Celt Vigo, who are down in 13th. Indeed, Sevilla lost at lowly Granada in their penultimate road game and with that in mind we’re certainly siding with the hosts.
