With their 2-2 draw with Dortmund in the Champions League,
Real extended their unbeaten run to a club record equalling 34 games in all
competitions, and a home clash with Deportivo, who are currently down in 16th,
represents an excellent opportunity for Zidane and his side to break that
record. Depor were impressive 5-1 home winners at home to Sociedad last time
out but that was only their third win of the season and they’ve lost six of
their last 10.
Real have won 14 of their 17 home games under Zidane,
including all eight of these that were against bottom-half teams. They led at
the break in each of these eight victories, while half were without conceding
and half were also by more than three goals, including a 5-0 triumph against
Depor themselves last term.
Indeed, since Depor have shipped four goals in three of
their last four on the road, we’re backing Real to cover the -3 handicap. Depor
have managed just one win in their last 19 away and have failed to score in
four of their last five visits to top-four sides. With the likes of Casemiro
and Pepe returning to fitness in recent weeks, we expect Real to improve
defensively and so we’re also backing them to win without conceding.
