Middlesbrough v West Ham
15:00 - 21/1/17 - Riverside Stadium, Middlesborough
Andy Carroll’s sublime overhead volley was the highlight of a very impressive second-half performance at the weekend as West Ham beat Crystal Palace 3-0 at home. This week they travel to Middlesbrough, who recorded a second consecutive 0-0 draw in the league to extend their run without a win to four games. They are four points clear of the drop zone, but a home win would be a huge result for them as they try to maintain their top-flight status after coming up last season.
Middlesbrough have been reasonably successful this season at home against bottom-half sides: after early losses to Watford and Crystal Palace, they have not conceded at the Riverside to a bottom-half team, earning two wins and a draw along the way. However, West Ham have picked up points in five of their last six games against bottom-six teams, so perhaps they can overcome the absence of Payet once again to get a result here.
These two sides drew 1-1 earlier in the season in their first meeting in almost five years, but after a few lacklustre results for Middlesbrough and a big win last weekend for the Hammers, we’ll be backing the away team on the Draw No Bet.
