Manchester Utd v St Etienne
15:00
Man Utd could only finish 2nd in Group A but having gone unbeaten in 16 in the Premier League they’ve been instilled favourites for the Europa League, in part due to a fairly favourable draw. However, St Etienne are up to 5th in Ligue after four wins in five and they also managed to top Group C without losing any of their games.
Man Utd’s recent home record in Europe is excellent as they’ve won 10 of 13 unbeaten games since 2013/14, keeping a clean sheet in seven of these games, whilst they put four past both Fenerbahce and Feyenoord in the group stages. They’ve kept clean sheets in five of their last six at Old Trafford in all competitions, conceding just the solitary goal, and they’ll fancy their chances of making it six in seven here.
St Etienne are comfortably the lowest scorers of anyone in the top six in Ligue 1, but they also have the second best defence in the division behind PSG. Indeed, whilst they’ve lost three of their last five on the road, they’ve conceded more than twice in only one of their last 24 away and they’ve lost just three of their 21 Europa League games since 2014/15, so we expect Utd to have to work hard for their win. We’re backing the home win and Under 2.5 Goals.
Man Utd Win and Under 2.5 Goals at 3.2
