Manchester Utd v Liverpool

16:00 - 15/1/2017 - Old Trafford, Manchester

While Liverpool will have been less than thrilled with their failure to put minnows Plymouth Argyle to the sword in the FA Cup last weekend, the draw means they will go into their League Cup semi-final against Southampton unbeaten in their last seven across all competition. They then face Man United on Sunday, who have now won nine in a row across all competitions, including two professional cup wins against Reading and Hull City in the FA Cup and League Cup respectively, for a crucial top-six clash.

Man Utd are definitely the form side coming into this encounter, and they also have the benefit of a strong recent home record against Liverpool and similar teams. They have lost to the Reds at Old Trafford just once since 2009, with that one defeat coming in early 2014, and their loss to Man City this season was the first time in the last two seasons that they’d lost to a top-six side on home turf. Liverpool, though, have not lost away against a top-half team this season, keeping clean sheets in their two most recent such games (against Everton and Southampton), and after holding the Red Devils to draws in their two most recent encounters, they will be optimistic about their chances on Sunday afternoon.

Many key Liverpool players will have enjoyed putting their feet up as a young team took on Plymouth, and we think that they could be resurgent against their top-four rivals. We think Liverpool Draw No Bet is the best play here.
