Manchester Utd v Celta Vigo
15:00
Utd picked up an excellent result in the first leg, winning 1-0 in Spain, but they were beaten 2-0 at Arsenal on the weekend and so will most likely have to rely on winning this tournament if they’re to qualify for the Champions League next term. Celta Vigo, meanwhile, continue to struggle as they were thumped 3-0 at Malaga, meaning they’ve now scored just once in their last five in all competitions.
Utd have an excellent home record in Europe as they’re unbeaten in 16 matches since 2013/14, conceding just two goals in their six games this term under Mourinho. What’s more, sides that have won the first away leg of Europa League knockout tie from the last-16 onwards by one goal have won nine of the 12 returns since 2010/11, keeping a clean sheet in three of the last five of these since 2013/14.
Celta Vigo are unbeaten in their last four road games in this competition, winning three of these, but none of the sides they’ve played in that time have been of Man Utd’s calibre. In the league, they’ve lost all eight of their trips to top-eight sides in La Liga this term and failed to score in half of these games. That, together with their current travails in front of goal means that we expect Utd to continue their excellent defensive at home in this competition and ease through to the final. We’re backing the Red Devils to keep a clean sheet.
Recommendation: Man Utd Clean Sheet at 2.1
