Manchester City v Swansea

13.30 - 5/2/2017 - Etihad Stadium, Manchester

Man City could afford to drop a number of high-profile players (including Sergio Aguero and Claudio Bravo) and still romp to a 4-0 win at West Ham on Wednesday night, thanks in no small part to Gabriel Jesus’s impressive debut (one goal, one assist). This weekend they host Swansea, and they will look to capitalise upon the weakness of the Swans’ back line. The visitors have improved significantly under Paul Clement, winning three of their last four top-flight games, but the odds will remain stacked against them at the Etihad.

Man City have been excellent at home against bottom-six sides. Their home draw against Middlesbrough interrupted a home winning streak stretching back nine games against bottom-six opposition, although they did concede in six of those games. They stand a good chance of taking an early lead against a Swansea side that has been down at the half in three of their last four against top-six sides. The surprise victory against Liverpool marked the end of a run of five consecutive losses against top-six sides and a winless run of eight, so it remains to be seen whether they can defy the odds against a confident Man City side.

Man City were held at home earlier in the season by Everton, Southampton and Middlesbrough, but they’ve now scored seven unanswered goals in their last two fixtures and they’ll back themselves against Swansea. Paul Clement’s side have scored in four of their last five, though, so we’ll back Man City and Both to Score.
