Manchester City v Monaco
15:00
Man City made it all the way to the semis last season and with their league form now improving they’ll hope for another deep run in the competition. However, standing in their way are Ligue 1 leaders and Group E toppers Monaco, who remain the top domestic scorers across Europe having netted 76 goals in their 26 Ligue 1 games.
After defeat against Juve in their opening group game last season, City have since won five of eight unbeaten Champions League games at the Etihad, beating the likes of PSG and Barcelona and drawing with Real Madrid. Indeed, they’ve conceded only two goals in their last six at home in the Champions League, whilst they’ve conceded only once in their last five across all competitions. However, this hasn’t been the case when they’ve hosted the top teams in the league so far as both teams have netted in their meetings with Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs, drawing 2-2 with the latter not long ago.
Monaco kept only one clean sheet in the group stages, at home to CSKA, but they’ve had some success coming to England in recent times, winning 3-1 at the Emirates in 2014/15 and beating Spurs 2-1 at Wembley in this campaign. They’re without a clean sheet in four away in the league but they’ve netted in their last 15 games in all competitions and so will be confident of an away goal. We’re going to back the 2-1 correct score at 8.0, a result that Monaco won’t be too disappointed with.
