Manchester City v Liverpool
16.30 - 19/3/2017 - Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Man City suffered the indignity of crashing out of the Champions League against Monaco midweek after going into the away leg of the tie with a healthy two-goal lead, but they come into this top-six clash against Liverpool unbeaten in their last nine at home across all competitions. Their visitors could only edge Burnley out 2-1, but they have reserved their best displays for fixtures against top-six sides so far this season, and having won four of their last five games against Man City they’ll have high hopes ahead of this one.
Liverpool’s biggest concern will be their away form in the league. They’ve not won on the road since beating Everton in mid-December, and failures to overcome Sunderland, Hull and Leicester will not fill the travelling fans with confidence. They have, however, been able to raise their game against top-six sides: they’ve gone undefeated against such opposition so far this season, winning four times and drawing twice. By contrast, City have won only one of their last six against top-six sides, and a goalless draw against Stoke made for an uninspiring prelude to this huge home fixture.
Man City have suffered a big confidence knock this week, and we think that Klopp has the nous to take advantage of this and maintain Liverpool’s form against top-six sides. They’re 2.6 on the Draw No Bet.
