We’ve got a true Super Sunday this week as fourth hosts third. City will be looking to reverse a worrying trend that has seen them fail to beat Arsenal in their last five league meetings. The hosts returned to winning ways midweek as they beat a lacklustre Watford 2-0 on Wednesday. That victory was clouded by a very serious looking injury to midfielder Dundogan though which could leave City light in midfield against a dynamic Arsenal.
The Gunners’ great run of form hit a toffee-flavoured brick wall on Tuesday as Everton came from behind to win at Goodison. The whole match was pulsating and Arsenal could have put the game beyond doubt at half-time. It continued a strange run of games for the visitors. Both teams have now scored in their last seven Premier League fixtures.
City have hosted three of the current top-half sides this term and remain winless as both teams have netted in all three. Prior to Pep’s arrival they were still leaky at the back in big matches. Last season they conceded in eight of their 10 games against the other top-six finishers as they suffered six defeats.
We could well see goals here. Last season all five of Arsenal’s trips to the other top-six finishers featured Over 3.5 Goals and there’s no reason to suggest we won’t get a repeat here. With City stuttering, Arsenal can win and win well here.
