Liverpool v Chelsea
15:00
After Swansea ended their 12-month unbeaten streak at home in the league, Liverpool suffered defeats to Southampton in the League Cup and to Wolves in the FA Cup, and they now face a must-win home game against league leaders Chelsea. The Reds will take some solace from the fact that they are unbeaten against top-six sides this, but Chelsea have won four on the bounce, so the hosts face a stiff task on Tuesday night.
Chelsea have gone W3-D0-L3 against top-six sides this season, but the only away win in that run was against Man City in a match they barely deserved to win, and they’ve gone into the break down a goal or more in all of their last four and seven of their last 10 away games against top-six sides. Liverpool have been down at the half only once in their last 10 at home against top-six teams, so despite poor recent form it would be a surprise to see them down early on. Their only losses at home to top-six sides in their last nine such games have been to Man United, so they’ll feel optimistic about their chances of turning things around against Chelsea.
Three of the last five between these two at Anfield have seen the spoils shared, and Klopp’s only lost once at home to the current top six, but we think Liverpool will struggle to win against a Chelsea team in red-hot form. We’ll back the Draw.
