Leicester v Stoke
15:00 - 1/4/2017 - King Power Stadium, Leicester
The tragic end to the Ranieri era at the King Power seems a long time ago now, and Craig Shakespeare’s perfect four games to start his tenure at the helm will give Foxes fans plenty of confidence coming into an eminently winnable game against Stoke. The visitors are headed for a creditable ninth place for the fourth time under Mark Hughes, and the balance of their last nine games (W3-D3-L3) reflects their status as a solid, if occasionally inconsistent, Premier League side.
Whereas last year Leicester’s King Power performances were in keeping with the sublime nature of their campaign, this year their efforts at home have been all that have kept them in the division. They’ve picked up points in each of their last seven at home against sides outside the top eight, and they’ve led at the break in four of these victories as well as in three of their four matches under Shakespeare so far. With Stoke trailing at both half time and full time in four of their last six away games we think that Leicester could look to attack early here.
The Foxes won this fixture 3-0 last term, and with Stoke failing to score in each of their last three on the road it’s hard to see how they’ll overcome the champions as they continue their resurgence. Leicester/Leicester HT/FT looks solid at 3.0.
