Introducing The 12,000/1 Tipster

Hello all!

I hope you’re as excited for the upcoming football season as I am. My name is James Leyfield aka ‘The 12,000/1 Tipster’ and I will be your new betting guru on The Set Odds.

The aim is for us to win loads of cash together and to do that I’ll be tweeting out free hints and tips on our @TheSetOdds Twitter account, but the main action will be taking place on the site.

I’m aiming to win £46,000 this season. That’s not a typo – and it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve won this much.

At the back end of 2015, I put on a £3.83 bet which returned a massive £46,245 at odds of more than 12,000/1 – hence my new moniker.

The bet was a six-team Win and Both Teams to Score accumulator which landed thanks to a last-minute goal from Sheffield Wednesday’s Lucas Joao, which is what I’m now planning to name my first child!

Fast-forward 18 months and I’ve just got back from the journey of a lifetime to Argentina, Brazil, Singapore, Bali, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Sri Lanka and India – all thanks to that £3.83 investment. You can’t even buy a pint in London for that these days!

Now I’m back and ready to win some more cash. I will be running a blogging series on The Set Odds across the season with new posts to come before all the big fixtures.

When I wasn’t pretending to be Bear Grylls in the dark depths of a Cambodian jungle or eating Argentina out of the most mouth-watering steak imaginable, I was testing out different betting markets.

In the blogging series, I’ll be backing 10 markets in each post and putting my money where my mouth is with a £100 investment per blog.

Fear not though, if you don’t fancy investing anywhere near that much I will be advising my tips using the points system. This basically means that you take the amount you would usually stake on a bet and that equals 1pt. For example, 1pt for me is £10. 2pts is £20 etc.

So, if I advise placing 1pt on Arsenal to beat Leicester and your usual stake is £1 then you put £1 on it. I would put £10 on it. Simples.

The bets will be made across the Premier League, Football League and European Leagues mainly.

I’m a journalist by trade and have worked for the likes of MailOnline, Mirror Online, The Sun Online and Yahoo in various roles from Showbiz Editor to Assistant TV Editor, so expect to see me tweet out a few tips in the celebrity market too.

While we’re waiting patiently for the season to start, I’ll be posting Football League and Premier League previews soon and tweet regular hints, tips and offers on The Set Odds Twitter account so please do give it a follow.

Here’s to a profitable season!
