Inter Milan v Empoli
15:00
Inter’s seven game winning streak was brought to an end as they were narrowly beaten 1-0 at the Juventus Stadium but they remain in 5th, just a point behind Lazio. Empoli, meanwhile, continue to improve as they held Torino to a draw, meaning they’ve lost only one of their last five and while they remain in 17th, they’re eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Inter have won their last seven at the San Siro, keeping clean sheets in three of the last four. Indeed, they’ve played three bottom-five sides during that run, beating Crotone and Pescara 3-0 and Genoa 2-0. You can almost draw a line through a defeat at Juve, such is their superiority at home, and since Inter in fact proved more than competitive in that game, we expect them to bounce straight back to winning ways.
Empoli are comfortably the lowest scoring side in the division as they’ve netted only 14 goals in their 23 games, failing to net in eight of their road games. They’ve lost 2-0 at both Napoli and Lazio and we expect something similar, given Inter’s record when hosting similar opposition in recent times. However, with both Perisic and Icardi both suspended, we don’t expect Inter to score more than twice so we’re backing the home win and Under 2.5 Goals, with the 2-0 correct score worth a punt at 6.0.
Inter Win and Under 2.5 Goals at 3.3
