Hull City v Everton
15:00
Hull did sterling work to keep Man City at bay until after half time on Boxing Day, but Andrew Robertson’s misguided challenge on Raheem Sterling allowed Yaya Toure to convert from the penalty spot, and the floodgates duly opened: they conceded three goals in the last eighteen minutes of play. They remain rooted to the foot of the table, and this Friday they host an Everton side that won their first away match since September when they defeated Leicester at the King Power Stadium last time out.
Against stronger teams, Hull have really struggled to take games by the scruff of the neck. They have conceded first in all of their six home games against top-half sides so far this term, and they’ve failed to score at all in three of those six matches. Everton’s six matches against bottom-six sides this season have produced a W4-D1-L1 line, and three of those four victories have been wins to nil by two goals or more (they haven’t conceded in a winning cause against a bottom-six side all season). That being said, they have gone W2-D1-L2 in their five trips to the KCOM Stadium to date, so Ronald Koeman will be wary of the threat that Hull can pose.
While Everton haven’t been altogether successful on the road this season, we think their win against Leicester will give them confidence for the trip north. Back them to win to nil.
