Everton v Liverpool
20.00 - 19/12/16 - Goodison Park, Liverpool
The final game before Christmas might not be played in the best of festive spirits as Everton and Liverpool continue their bitter battle. The Merseyside derby is a highlight in any Premier League campaign and this season is no different as Liverpool look stronger than ever while Everton come into the game having beaten Arsenal in a Goodison Park Tuesday night thriller.
That victory for the Toffees was just their first in six in the league but it certainly felt like a turning point. The win extended their unbeaten home run to 11 games but you’d never have guessed looking at the odds here. Their opponents are Evens to break the streak. Over the past five seasons Everton have hosted top-six finishers 28 times – they’ve finished in the top-six themselves in two of those campaigns – and they’ve recorded a balanced W10-D8-L10 set of results.
Liverpool have won half of their 24 away games under Klopp but this will be his first trip to Goodison. Six of the last eight Merseyside derbies have been drawn including the last four that Everton have hosted. It’s difficult to imagine Liverpool failing to net here but what’s interesting is that Everton have drawn nine of their 22 home games when conceding since the start of last season.
