Crystal Palace v Watford
15:00 - 18/3/2017 - Selhurst Park, South London
Crystal Palace have not had it all their own way under Sam Allardyce, but back-to-back wins will have done a world of good for their confidence ahead of their game this weekend against Watford. Watford have won just twice in their last 12 league games, but they are yet to drop lower than 13th in the standings this term, so Walter Mazzarri’s position at the helm looks safe for now, but if Troy Deeney’s form dries up (he has scored in five of their last six) the team will have some big questions to answer.
The only consolation for Palace fans eyeing the Eagles’ home form will be Watford’s away form. While Palace’s 1-0 win over Middlesbrough ended a run of five straight home losses, Watford’s loss at Old Trafford was their sixth loss in eight away games. Palace have gone LLWLW over their last five against middle-third teams, but one area of consistency is in their half-time record: it’s been 0-0 at the half in each of these games. Five of Watford’s last seven against bottom-six sides have also been scoreless at the half, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see that again on Saturday.
These teams have both had their ups and downs this season, and each side has won two and lost two in their four most recent games at Selhurst Park. Both sides seem to start games in a cagey fashion, though, so the 0-0 Half Time score looks like a good option.
