Crystal Palace v Leicester

15:00 - 15/4/2017 - Selhurst Park, South London

The ‘Big Sam Effect’ seems to be taking hold at Crystal Palace: they are now six points clear of the relegation spots after an astonishing 3-0 win against Arsenal. This week they host Leicester, who are only two points ahead of them, but sit five points higher because they have the best goal difference of the four teams on 36 points. Leicester couldn’t match up to an Everton side that’s been rampant at Goodison Park last weekend, but they are still looking like a much-improved side under Craig Shakespeare.

Despite recent success, Leicester’s away form remains a concern. They’ve won only once on the road this season, and that win at West Ham came despite conceding two goals – six goals conceded in two away matches under Shakespeare does not smack of defensive consistency. They’ve got the third-worst defensive record away from home in the league, so we’re expecting them to ship some goals. While they may allow a few chances, however, we think the Foxes will also get a few shots off themselves: defenders Scott Dann and James Tomkins are likely to be out for the home side.

The match outcome markets don’t appeal because of the recent fluctuations in form these two clubs have experienced, but we can be pretty confident of this game featuring a few goals. Evens is a good price for Over 2.5.
