Crystal Palace v Burnley
17.30 - 29/4/2017 - Selhurst Park, South London
Crystal Palace became the latest team to succumb to a fantastic strike against Spurs in the midweek round of fixtures: Christian Eriksen’s effort was enough for Spurs to keep the pressure on Chelsea, and the Eagles must now prepare for their fixture against Burnley in Saturday’s late kick-off. Burnley have hit a sticky patch with just one win in their last 12 across all competitions, and they’re now only five points clear of Swansea
in 18th.
Despite their defeat against Tottenham, Palace have done well under Big Sam. They’ve beaten Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool while securing six wins in their last nine, and there has been a marked improvement in their defence under Allardyce: they’ve kept first-half clean sheets in 10 of his 17 games in charge. They’ll have few defensive concerns against a side that has only netted 10 times on the road this season – what’s more, Burnley have lost five of their six away games against middle-third teams this term, and four of those losses have been by two or more. Given that their three recent draws came against league stragglers Middlesbrough, Hull and Sunderland, it’s hard to see Burnley coming away from this with much to show for their efforts.
Crystal Palace will be without Mamadou Sakho owing to injury, but despite his absence, we think Palace have the form and quality necessary to ease past a side that’s been woeful on the road. 1.8 looks like a fair price for the Home Win.
