Chelsea v Hull City

16.30 - 22/1/17 - Stamford Bridge, West London

Chelsea reconfirmed their title intentions in emphatic style with a 3-0 victory against Leicester last weekend in a match many thought they would struggle to win, and they now return to Stamford Bridge to host Hull. Hull showed spirit in their come-from-behind 3-1 win against Bournemouth, but they have lost all of their last eight on the road, and Marco Silva will have his hands full against a Chelsea side that showed it can thrive even in the absence of league top scorer Diego Costa.

Chelsea’s form against bottom-six sides this season has been excellent: they’ve been up at half time in all five games they’ve played, and the 2-2 draw with Swansea early in the season was the only occasion they’ve failed to convert that half time lead into three points. They’ve not conceded in any of their four most recent matches against such opposition, and given that Hull have not scored in four of their last six games against top-six sides, Chelsea will be expecting a faultless performance. Interestingly, the half-time score in each of Chelsea’s five games against bottom-six sides this season has been 1-0 in favour of the Blues, so 1-0 Half Time Score is worth a punt at 3.1.

Chelsea will be expecting to take this one without any fuss, and Hull have looked toothless on the road this season. We’re happy to back the Chelsea Win to Nil at 1.75.
