Celta Vigo v Real Madrid
15:00
Celta Vigo’s win at Leganes was their third in their last four games and so they move up to 8th from 13th, now just four points off Villarreal who occupy 6th spot, where Celta Vigo ended up last term. Real Madrid, meanwhile, were comfortable 3-0 winners at home to Sociedad and with Barca and Sevilla both dropping points, Los Blancos now have a four point lead at the top with a game in hand.
After a slow start to the season that saw them lose their opening two home games, Celta Vigo have since won seven of eight at Balaidos Municipal Stadium, including a 4-3 win over Barca. Indeed, Celta have beaten Barca in three of their last five meetings, but they’ve lost their last five with Real in the league, despite knocking them out of the Copa del Rey not long ago. They do however tend to get on the scoresheet against Los Blancos as they’ve found the net in their last eight at home to them in all competitions since 2003/04.
Real’s clean sheet against Sociedad was only their second in their last seven, while they’ve shut out their opponents in only one of their last six on the road. Indeed, they’ve conceded in seven of their nine trips to sides between 3rd and 8th since the start of last season, so we expect both teams to score here but given Real’s excellent league form and head-to-head record against Celta, whom they’ll be keen to inflict revenge on after their cup defeat, we’re backing Real to Win and Both Teams to Score.
