Burnley v Southampton
15:00 - 14/1/2017 - Turf Moor, Burnley
Apart from a hard-luck loss to Man City at the end of November, Burnley have won all of their last six games at home, and they will be looking to keep this streak going when they host Southampton on Saturday. Southampton face off against Liverpool in the League Cup semi-final on Wednesday evening, but after three straight losses in the league, they will be focusing on keeping pace with Bournemouth in ninth place and maintaining pressure on the teams pushing for European football berths next season.
Southampton’s away record has been mediocre this season: they’ve gone W2-D3-L5 this season, while they’ve failed to score in three of their last four on the road. They’ve drawn the first half in eight of their last 10 away against middle-third teams and eight of their nine matches against such teams at all venues this season. Five of these have been 0-0 half-time scorelines and the Clarets have been scoreless at the break in five of their eight games against middle-third sides this year, a 0-0 correct half time score is worth a punt at 2.5.
Southampton will be fatigued after their midweek game, and Burnley are in the stronger vein of form for this one. All things considered, we think that 7.5 is too long for a Draw/Burnley HT/FT result.
