Burnley v Middlesbrough

15:00

Burnley got on the scoresheet on the road for just the second time this season at White Hart Lane, but it was not enough to prevent them from succumbing to their fourth straight loss. They now sit just three points clear of the relegation spots, and they will have their work cut out for them as they take on Middlesbrough this weekend. Boro will be riding high after a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Swansea, but they will be desperate to stretch the gap between themselves and Sean Dyche’s men to four points when they visit.

The Clarets have struggled on the road, but few can fault their performances at Turf Moor: no bottom-half team has won as many home games this season as Burnley (five), and their only loss to a non-top six side was to Swansea in their first match of the season. Furthermore, Middlesbrough have not won any of their last eight on the road, but they can take some comfort from the fact that they have lost only once in their past six visits to Burnley in the Championship. Only Hull (14) and Sunderland (15) have scored fewer goals than these two have this season (16 each), so it’s unlikely that this will be a goal-fest.

Middlesbrough have drawn the first half in five of their last eight away matches, and six of the last seven games between these two sides across all competition have been level at the break. Given Burnley’s strong home form this season, we’ll be backing Draw/Burnley HT/FT.

Best bet: Draw/Burnley HT/FT at 6
