Borussia Dortmund v Augsburg
15:00
Dortmund have failed to take advantage of Bayern’s relatively slow start in the Bundesliga as Tuchel’s side have won just three of their last 10 and so are only 5th, with surprise package RB Leipzig giving Carlo Ancelotti’s men the most to think about at the top of the division. Augsburg, meanwhile, are up to 12th after their home win over Monchengladbach, but they’re struggling for goals this season as their tally of 12 in 15 games is the second lowest in the division.
While they’ve managed just two wins from their eight road games, Dortmund have won five of seven unbeaten home matches and in fact have won 19 of 24 unbeaten games at the Westfalenstadion since the start of last term. When hosting sides outside the top half they’ve been prolific in front of goal, scoring 40 goals in 13 such matches (3.1 gpg) since the start of last season, with six of their 11 wins in these games by more than two goals. That’s despite the fact that they kept just five clean sheets in these games and as a result nine saw more than three goals, while six had more than four.
Indeed, Augsburg lost this fixture 5-1 last season but that was something of an anomaly as they’ve lost just one of their last 19 road games by more than goal. Despite their lack of end product they have managed to score in defeat at Leipzig this term, whilst they also scored at each of the top six last term, despite picking up just two points from these games. Dortmund have a number of defensive issues at the moment with Guerreiro, Piszczek and Sokratis all out and as such we’re backing both teams to score here at 1.91 and for those looking to get the hosts on the side, the best approach looks to be backing Dortmund to win and both teams to score at 2.8.
