Atletico were held to a 1-1 draw at Deportivo in midweek and so they now have just a one point lead over Real Sociedad in 5th. Valencia, meanwhile, made it three wins in four as they beat Leganes 1-0 at home and so they’re up to 13th.
Usually so strong defensively, Atletico are without a clean sheet in four, though they’ll expect to get back to winning ways at home, where they’ve won eight of 12 matches this term as their only defeats have come against Real and Barca. However, they’ve kept just one clean sheet in their last five meetings with Valencia since 2014/15 and so we the fancy the visitors to get on the scoresheet.
Valencia have lost five of their last eight on the road, but have netted in all but one of their last 12 on their travels, including at Villarreal, Sociedad, Sevilla and Bilbao, losing three of these games. They managed to net at Atletico, Barca and Real last term and with that in mind we’re backing Atletico to win and both teams to score, with the 2-1 correct score of interest at 8.0.
