Watford suffered the ignominy of a 1-0 FA Cup loss to League One side Millwall at the weekend, and the pressure will be on gaffer Walter Mazzarri as they make the short trip to the Emirates to face Arsenal. The Gunners put five past Southampton to cruise into the fifth round and make it four wins on the trot in all competitions. They are in second place, clear of Spurs by a single point, and a win against the Hornets would keep up the pressure on Chelsea at the top of the table ahead of their clash this weekend.
Watford face no immediate relegation threat (they’re eight points clear of the drop zone), but they’re winless in their last seven on the road, and they’ve got a terrible record (W1-D0-L13) against top-six sides in their last fourteen at all venues, and they’ve not won against such opposition on the road since coming back to the Prem in 2015. By contrast, Arsenal have been excellent both home and away against bottom-half teams, winning all of their last five against lower-half sides, and they’re undefeated in their last 10 against such teams at the Emirates (W8-D2-L0).
Arsenal have recorded the Half Time/Full Time Win/Win result in five of those eight wins, and Leicester have been behind at half time and full time in their last four away games against top-six opponents. With that in mind, we’re backing Arsenal/Arsenal HT/FT.
