Arsenal v Stoke
15:00 - 10/12/16 - Emirates Stadium
Fantasy football managers up and down the country will be scrambling to get Alexis Sanchez into their team any way they can after his mercurial performance last weekend against West Ham and his integral role in the 4-1 midweek win over Basel. This week they find themselves up against a typically turgid Stoke side, who have lost just once since defeat at Crystal Palace on 18 September.
Arsenal’s unbeaten league run now sits at 13 games, and their home record so far this term is W4-D2-L1, with that solitary loss coming right at the beginning of the season to Liverpool. These games have tended to be high-scoring: five of the seven have featured over 2.5 goals, but this is largely due to the fact that Arsenal have kept only two clean sheets at home.
Stoke have historically struggled when travelling to top-four teams as they’ve lost 14 of their 16 visits to these sides since 2012/13. They failed to score in 10 of these games while they also trailed at the break in 10, with eight of their defeats by more than one goal. All things considered, then, it will be an uphill struggle for the Potters to come home with anything to show for their efforts on Saturday.
Arsenal are particularly strong in the Half Time/Full Time market as well: six of the last 10 games they’ve played against middle-third teams at home have ended with W/W doubles. As such, we think backing the hosts in that market is the way to go.
