Man Utd are as short as 2.38 to lift the Europa League title this term, though they had to work much harder than expected to get past Rostov in the last round and with just three wins in their last eight across all competitions it may not look an appealing price about the Red Devils. A large part of the reason they’re that short is the quality of opposition left in the competition. However, Belgian league leaders Anderlecht have had some success against English teams in recent times, drawing 3-3 at the Emirates in the 2014/15 edition of the Champions League and beating Spurs 2-1 at home in this competition last term, so they’ll be hopeful of an upset.
Anderlecht are W7-D1-L2 at home in the Europa League since the start of last season, with Shakhtar the only team they’ve failed to score against in that time. They’ve only lost once in their last 16 home games in all competitions, whilst they haven’t conceded in their last five at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, so we expect them to pose Utd a significant test.
Man Utd won at bottom of the league Sunderland on the weekend, but prior to that they’d been held to frustrating home draws against both West Brom and Everton, so they’re certainly not firing on all cylinders. What’s more their European away record since 2013/14 is just W3-D4-L8 and so we’re going to take them on at 2.0.
